How Do I Get Serana as a Follower Again
Did you all know that if you havnt taken her back to her Father..she will NEVER not Follow you. Meaning if you do Quest from say...The Companions, where you HELP one of them do a Quest...Serana will follow you anyway and fight with you. I guess she doent trust you enough yet to not Follow.

Ive always used the azura companion. After I completed all the dawnguard questlines and leveled up 30+ times.. I returned to the castle and went into the soul cairn. Serena was my follower again without requesting her. After I left the soul cairn she remained my follower along with my original follower. Hope this works for someone else too.

I've currently got Cicero, Mjoll (the wife), Shadowmere and Serena in my Gang of Five and wondering whether it's worth finishing the Dawnguard questline or just keeping her as a follower indefinitely. Oh yeah, and Brian the Skeleton makes six.

I've been playing on the Switch with Vilkas and Serana both following me as part of each of their respective quests, after decimating half of Skyrim I decided to progress their quests i.e took her to meet her father and then completed the companions quest. Since doing this I've been able to recruit them both again without either of them being dismissed. Looks like a bug but I'm going to roll with it

Looks like since she just decided herself that she's gonna go with the (untollowed) dragonborn, that she's technically not a requested follower. After she started following for her Moth quest purposes, I went to the dogs and told Sceolang that he can help me go kill vampires, and he started following too. So now I have both of them on my side.
(Apologies if I'm not supposed to bump an old thread)

Yeah not to beat a dead horse but I have lvl 100 Conjuration, and the Chief of Thirsk Hall allows you to recruit a coupla random Rieklings, regardless of Solstheim or Skyrim. Plus 2 DB initiates with Cicero and Serana.

Serana has been my follower for a while and im done with all the dawnguard dlc. I just completed "the taste of death" and asked Eola to follow me just to see what she would say, and she just stsrted following me. Not sure what made it work but idc at this point.

I have Serana and J'zargo, plus a Reikling Warrior, and all of them can carry stuff!

I entered Volkmar castle from the back with Erik to revisit the soul cairn, and as soon as I entered, there was Serana (she was supposed to be hanging around Fort Dawnguard). She and Erik got into a fight right away. I exited with Erik, told him to wait, and visited the soul cairn with Serana. Emerging from the castle, Serana and Erik were on good terms and both remained followers for awhile, but sometimes would squabble again at the most inconvenient moments. Does anyone know why this happens or what to do about it? Perhaps it's a case of one of them taking accidental "friendly fire" from the player.

The latter is probably because Serana hit Erik too much. Since he's mostly melee he'll be fighting directly, while Serana tends to stay in the back and fire ice spikes. She usually hits your regular follower enough to make then hostile. I had this issue a lot when I had Serana following me so I'm pretty sure that's the case.
As for the initial attack, I have no idea why that would happen. I get attacked by people all the time for no reason at later levels, so I don't really understand the AI in general.
